While at Smile, I held the role of Social Content Specialist. I crafted engaging social social strategy and content that championed small businesses and fostered genuine engagement through platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok and Discord.

Navigating the Path of Experimentation: Insights from Trying Different Content Strategies

As a Social Content Specialist, I’ve had my fair share of successes and failures learning opportunities while trying out different content strategies. Every trial has taught me something new and valuable, enabling me to refine my approach to creating engaging social content.

While at Smile, I reported and collaborated with Siân, the Sr. Community Manager. Through trial and error, we discovered what worked best for Smile’s audience and what didn’t. For example, experimenting with different types of content, posting times and the platforms themselves.

My successes have been rewarding and exciting because they helped make Smile’s brand stand out. But, my failures learning opportunities have been equally valuable, offering insights that helped me learn from my mistakes and re-strategize.

Here is how I discovered experimentation through various content strategies to find results that best represent the brand’s voice and connect with the community.

Creativity and Innovation: Each new content strategy I explored allowed me to unleash my creativity and push the boundaries of innovation. By thinking outside the box and experimenting with fresh ideas, I discovered that taking risks and embracing creativity often led to the most impactful and memorable content.

Audience Understanding: Trying different content strategies allowed me to deeply understand Smile’s audience: small businesses, solopreneurs and/or e-commerce enthusiasts. By analyzing engagement, I gained a profound understanding of what resonates with them. This knowledge became a big step in my content creation process.

Consistency and Cohesion: Crafting various content strategies taught me the importance of maintaining consistency and cohesion across platforms. By aligning Smile’s brand's voice, visual identity, and messaging, I created a unified experience for their audience, fostering a sense of familiarity and trust.

Continuous Learning: Finally, trying different content strategies has instilled a deep appreciation for constant learning. In the fast-paced digital landscape, trends and preferences can shift rapidly. By staying curious, keeping up with industry updates, and seeking inspiration from diverse sources, I ensured that my team and content strategies remained fresh, relevant, and practical.

Trying different content strategies has been a transformative learning experience. It has taught me to understand and adapt to the audience, rely on data-driven insights, foster engagement, and continually evolve. These lessons have shaped me into a versatile and adaptable Social Content Specialist, ready to navigate the ever-changing digital landscape confidently.
