As a podcast co-host, I not only had the pleasure of sharing captivating stories and discussions but also collaborated on designing our brand identity and managing our social media strategy. This multifaceted role allowed me to blend creativity, communication, and strategic thinking.
Scared Topless: Unveiling a Captivating Brand Design for a Thriving Horror Podcast Community
When my co-host Jessica and I were crafting our podcast, Scared Topless, we wanted to create a brand design that would best capture the essence of the podcast’s spine-tingling narrative, establish a recognizable visual identity, and foster a sense of community among horror enthusiasts. After rounds of brainstorming and exploring various Pinterest boards, we joined forces with Alex La, Jessica's colleague who specialized in Graphic Design, to craft the brand identity of Scared Topless. With his expert design skills and our collaborative efforts, we were able to create a stunning design that exceeded our expectations.
Here’s our approach to creating a brand design 🎨
Research and Ideation: We began by conducting extensive research into the horror genre, exploring visual elements, motifs, and themes that resonated with the target audience. Drawing inspiration from classic horror literature, modern films such as Insidious or The Conjuring and contemporary dark aesthetics.
Defining the Brand Personality: To develop a cohesive brand design, we identified key brand attributes that aligned with our podcast's unique voice. We sought to create a brand personality that was mysterious, alluring, and feminine while also instilling a sense of community and shared passion.
Logo Design: With the expertise of Alex to bring our vision the life, the logo design process involved various iterations, where different concepts were explored. Ultimately, we settled on a simple design that evoked a sense of intrigue and captured the podcast's essence while leaving room for the audience's imagination to roam.
Color Palette and Typography: The choice of colours played a vital role in the brand design. We opted for a dark and moody colour palette, deep black shades, rich reds, and purples. These colours created an atmospheric backdrop that immersed the audience in the podcast's world. The typography complemented the brand personality with bold and slightly distressed fonts, adding an air of mystery.
Visual Assets and Collateral: To extend the brand's reach and engagement, We developed visual assets that aligned with the brand design. They created the captivating cover art for each episode, employing visual elements that teased the story's essence and enticed listeners. Additionally, promotional materials such as posters and social media graphics,
