Unlocking Success through Collaboration and Communication
During the spookiest month of the year, my best friend Jessica and I decided to embark on a new adventure: starting a podcast. As marketing students, we wanted to put our creativity and knowledge to good use by creating a passion project we could both be proud of.
Not long after, we collaborated with our good friend Tyler, an audio technician who occasionally takes part in episodes. We brainstormed ideas, researched topics and recorded and edited our first few episodes. It was a steep learning curve, but we were determined to make our podcast the best it could be.
What I’ve Learned 🧠
Collaboration: We realized that working together was the key to making our podcast a success. We each brought our unique skills and perspectives to the table, and by working together, we created something truly special. We used tools such as Notion to help us communicate and collaborate effectively.
Communication: A crucial aspect of our podcasting journey, We had to learn how to effectively communicate our ideas, thoughts, and feedback to one another. It wasn't always easy, but we knew that clear communication was essential to achieving our goals.
Flexibility: We had to be ready to pivot and adapt to unexpected challenges, whether technical issues or scheduling conflicts. By being flexible and open-minded, we were able to keep our podcast running, even when things didn't go according to plan.
Feedback & Growth: There were times when not everyone was on board for a specific theme or episode, but we were able to provide constructive criticism and support through empathy. We noticed this improved our podcast by taking feedback with an open mind.
Two years later, we occasionally record a few episodes for fun! It's a great outlet for my friends and I to collaborate and embrace our creativity. It has also allowed us to transfer all the skills we learned and developed through our podcasting journey to our everyday work ethic.
